Dr. Walters is recognized for his research and leadership on issues associated with institutional transformation, student retention and culture and equity issues within higher education. His research activities have led to book chapters and publications in national and peer reviewed journals such as: Journal of College Student Retention, Research, Theory & Practice, Community College Review, Student Affairs Journal, Trustee Quarterly, Community College Week, Excellence and Equity in Education and About Campus and AACRAO’s Strategic Enrollment Management Source. He currently serves as an associate editor for the International Higher Education and Learning Review, HETL and as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of College Student Retention: Research, Theory and Practice. Progressively throughout his career, he has spearheaded numerous institutional projects that have centered on student success and academic program expansion. Some of these programs has been a part of national initiatives such as the “Achieving the Dream” and the “Foundations of Excellence” projects. In the area of institutional transformation, he has provided entrepreneurial leadership on the “One Stop” Student Success Center concept, where in addition to publishing, he has established multiple operations at different institutions. Many of these operations have been recognized by the Community College Review, Campus Technology and EDUCASE journals.

Dr. Patrick Blessinger is an adjunct associate professor of education at St. John's University, a math and science teacher with the New York State Education Department, and chief research scientist of the International Higher Education Teaching and Learning Association (in consultative status with the United Nations). Dr. Blessinger is the editor and author of many books and articles and he is an educational policy analyst and contributing writer with UNESCO's Inclusive Policy Lab, University World News, The Hechinger Report, and Higher Education Tomorrow, among others. Dr. Blessinger teaches courses in education, leadership, and research methods and he serves on doctoral dissertation committees. Dr. Blessinger has been involved with accreditation certification for universities and colleges and he has been involved in various educational consulting projects. Dr. Blessinger provides professional development workshops and classes to teachers and educational leaders and regularly gives presentations at academic conferences around the world. Dr. Blessinger has received several educational awards, including: Fulbright Senior Scholar to Denmark (Department of State, USA), Governor’s Teaching Fellow (Institute of Higher Education, University of Georgia, USA), and Certified Educator (National Geographic Society, USA).
