Johnson & Wales University has appointed Jeffrey D. Senese, Ph.D., to the position of vice president for academic affairs for the Providence Campus. Senese was selected from a field of more than 70 candidates through a comprehensive executive search process in which Providence Campus deans, Providence Leadership Team members, and select faculty participated.Senese comes to JWU after serving for approximately four years as the vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty at Philadelphia University in Philadelphia, Penn. In this role, he was responsible for providing leadership to expand student enrollment, increase and further develop faculty, and identify and implement ways to engage students and improve their educational experience. His prior career experiences include service as: the vice president for academic affairs at Mt. Ida College in Newton Centre, Mass.; the chief academic officer and director of academic affairs at The Pennsylvania State University’s Wilkes-Barre campus; the associate dean of the University of Baltimore’s Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts; and assistant professor at Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
He received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University’s School of Criminal Justice and also holds a master’s degree in criminology from Indiana State University, and a bachelor of science degree from The Pennsylvania State University.
