Dr. Lori Breslow is the founding Director of the Teaching & Learning Laboratory (TLL) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She conducts research on the development and impact of pedagogical, curricular, and technological innovation in STEM higher education. She was the co-director of the Teaching for Learning Network, a collaboration between MIT and Cambridge, and she has spoken on university-level teaching and learning at Harvard, Oxford, the University of Edinburgh, and the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), among others. She has consulted on MIT’s partnerships to create new universities.
She led a joint MIT-Harvard research project to analyze data from edX’s massive open online courses (MOOC), and was invited to present that research at the President’s Council of Advisors in Science and Technology (PCAST), the American Educational Research Association (AERA) annual meeting, and the New American Foundation. She spoke at the New York Times’ “Schools for Tomorrow” symposium, and her research has been cited in The Wall Street Journal, the Chronicle of Higher Education, and Inside Higher Education. Dr. Breslow is on the MIT Museum of Science Advisory Board, the Olin College President’s Advisory Board, and was a member of the Journal of Engineering Education editorial board and the MIT OpenCourseWare Assessment and Evaluation Advisory Board. She is a senior lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
