Dr. Blessinger is a global thought leader in education, sustainability, and democracy. He is the Founder, President, and Chief Research Scientist of the International Higher Education Teaching and Learning Association (in consultative status with the United Nations), leading a global network of educators focused on advancing the scholarship and practice of teaching and learning in education worldwide.

Dr. Blessinger is an instructor of education at the State University of New York (old Westbury) and St. John’s University (New York City). He has taught university courses in education, leadership, and research for many years and has mentored many doctoral and master’s students. He has worked as a New York City public school teacher in math and science for many years.

Dr. Blessinger’s influence on the educational landscape is evident as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education and two book series: Innovations in Higher Education Teaching and Learning and Global Perspectives on Higher Education Development. His contributions as an editor and author of many scholarly publications on education, democracy, and sustainability have helped shape the global discourse in these fields.

Dr. Blessinger is an educational​ ​policy analyst and contributing writer with the UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab, University World News, The Hechinger Report, and The Guardian, among others. He has spoken at many academic conferences worldwide, including the United Nations. He has received several academic awards, including Fulbright Senior Scholar to Denmark (Department of State, USA) and Governor’s Teaching Fellow (Institute of Higher Education, University of Georgia, USA).
